What Are Serinity Chatons and Round Stones?

Also known as pointed back crystals, round stones or table diamonds, Serinity chatons are multi-faceted round glass crystal stones with a pointed back and a faceted crown on the front. The pointed back concentrates light refraction to create outstanding depth of colour, distinguishing them from flatback crystals which sit flush against a surface. Chatons require a setting, cavity or bead embroidery technique to hold the pointed back securely while the faceted crown faces outward.

Foiled vs Unfoiled Chatons: What Is the Difference?

Foiled chatons have a metallic coating on the pointed back that acts as a mirror, maximising light reflection within the setting for the highest possible brilliance. Unfoiled versions allow light to pass through the stone from both sides, making them suitable for bead embroidery techniques and transparent settings where light transmission is part of the design. Both versions are available across the full size and colour range.

Sizes, Colours and Finishes

Serinity chatons use the standard PP (pearl plate) and SS (stone size) sizing system, covering the full range from PP1 through to 18mm. PP sizes cover the smallest stones used in fine detail work and bead embroidery, with SS sizes extending through to 18mm for larger focal stones.
