What Are Serinity Rhinestones?

Serinity Flat Back Crystals are lead free, laser-cut glass crystals with a faceted front designed to catch the light and a flat side that is designed to sit flush on a flat surface, perfect for rhinestone embellishment.

Serinity Crystals can come in a variety of finishes, the most used option is foiled crystals (F) that have a silver foiling on the back just like standard glass mirrors. This backing helps reflect the light up through the coloured glass of the crystal, enabling the colour to pop to its fullest dazzling effect.

When a crystal is unfoiled (UF) it has no foiling on the back, therefore you can see through the crystal, this often results in a more delicate twinkle of colour. Another style is the lacquered effect, which has a boldly pigmented lacquered backing that gives a truly solid pop of colour and all sparkle results from the cut of crystal and not any foiled affect.

Types of Serinity Flat Back Crystals

Baguette

Baguette Rhinestones are rectangular with slightly rounded corners and come in two styles; the classic baguette is cut in a symmetrical design and the Cosmic Baguette is cut in an asymmetrical abstract style. For other styles of rectangular shapes see Emerald Cut and Cosmic.

Butterfly

The facets on the butterfly flatback crystal come to a central point like a Rivoli Chaton crystal. This guarantees the butterfly will sparkle from every angle.

Cushion

The cushion cut crystal design is a rounded square with many layers of facet around the sides that lead up to a flat octagonal top surface.

Diamond

The diamond shape comes to a point at either end has a flat top surface. For the same silhouette with a different faceted style see Rhombus.

Emerald Cut

In this instance “Emerald” refers to the cut of the crystal and not the colour. The Emerald shape is rectangular, with the corners cut off at sharp angles and a flat rectangular top surface. For other styles of rectangular shapes see Baguette and Cosmic.

Flame

Serinity Flame flat back crystals boast a shape reminiscent of a stylized Flame like you would find on a candle. This flame shape features a tapered, elongated silhouette with a pointed end on one side and a rounded point on the other.

Heart

The flatback heart shape from Serinity is symmetrical and rounded like the classic cartoon heart design.

Hexagon

There are two styles of Hexagon in the Serinity Crystals range, the Large Hexagon is elongated like a rectangle and the Small Hexagon is similar to a square with corners cut off.

Kite

The Kite flatback crystal is shaped like the traditional diamond shape kite which tapers to one end and has a flat top surface. For a similar shape see Diamond.

Moon

Serinity Moon shaped crystals have a unique crescent or half-moon shape. The facets create a steeper drop on the inside of the crescent and a smoother gradient can be found on the outer edge of the moon, maximising its ability to catch the light.

Navette

The Navette shape of flatback crystal comes in two variations:

  • The Serinity Navette shaped crystals are elongated and pointed at both ends, resembling a cats eye. The name "navette" is derived from the French word for "little boat," as the shape of the crystal is reminiscent of a boat's hull.
  • Serinity Marquise shaped crystals are very similar and are characterized by an elongated elliptical shape with pointed ends, which gives the impression of a larger size due to its slender and elongated appearance.

Oval

There are two versions of the oval shape in the Serinity Rhinestones range:

  • The Serinity Oval shaped crystals are elongated and oval in shape, similar to an egg. They have two rounded ends and are faceted to create a multi-dimensional effect.
  • There are also the Oval Cabochon shaped crystals, which are also oval in shape but have a smooth, domed surface. Unlike faceted crystals, cabochons have a smooth surface without any facets, giving them a more subdued and subtle appearance.

Paisley

Serinity Paisley shaped crystals come in X and Y, and both have a unique shape with a rounded, bulbous bottom that gradually tapers to a point at the top. The X and Y variations are mirror images of each other which enable customisable pattern possibilities.

Pear

Serinity Pear shaped crystals feature a tapered traditional pear shape with a rounded bottom and a pointed top, for an alternative, similarly shaped crystal see Raindrop.

Pentagon

The Serinity Pentagon shape comes in two variations, and both are similar in shape to a stylised house with a triangular roof. The Small Pentagon is based on a square, whereas the large pentagon is more rectangular.

Raindrop

Serinity Drop shaped crystals feature a unique teardrop design that tapers from a smaller top to a wider bottom, giving it the appearance of a droplet or tear. For an alternative, similarly shaped crystal see Pear.

Rectangle

The most rectangular silhouette available in Serinity is the Cosmic crystal, it is a slightly wide rectangle with barely curved corners and an asymmetrical faceted design. For other styles of rectangular shapes see Baguette and Emerald Cut crystals.

Rhombus

The rhombus shape comes to a point at either end and the facets come to a central point. For the same silhouette with a different faceted style see Diamond.

Round

Round Rhinestones are measured differently to other shapes of crystal, which follow the usual rule of ‘length x width’ in mm. You will notice round cut crystals are classified with SS numbers like SS5 or SS20, “SS” means “stone size”. On our product pages we have converted these numbers into mm measurements that cover the diameter of the crystals circular surface area.

Round Rhinestones also come in a few different facetted designs (2000, 2058 and 2088) which are determined by the size of the crystal because the larger crystals have more space on them to allow for extra facets. The most famous design is the Xillion Rose Cut that can be found in SS12 – SS48 and boasts an iconic starburst appearance. The other easily recognizable cut is the Chaton Rose which is a simpler but still stunning design.

Both Xillion and Chaton Rose contain ‘Rose’ in the name because they are circular designs. This type of “Rose” refers to the cut of the crystal, not the colour, the colour of the glass will be specified separately on the wholesale pack.

Spike

Serinity Round Spike shaped Rhinestones are distinct for their high reaching spike-like shape, making them unconventional and more three dimensional than other crystals.

Skull

The Serinity Skull flatback crystal boasts the shape of a skull minus the lower jaw, like the motif commonly seen on pirate flags.

Star

There are two versions of star shaped crystals in the Serinity range:

  • The Serinity Rivoli Star shaped crystals are uniquely designed with a central point and multiple facets arranged symmetrically to create a stunning star-like effect.
  • There is also the Star Flower shape which has five rounded points that is slightly softer and more rounded and can resemble a star or a flower depending on how it's viewed.

Square

There are three styles of square cut flatback crystal in the Serinity range:

  • The Serinity Classic Square shaped crystal (2483) is square in shape with a raised flat centre, creating a subtle pyramid-like shape without a pointed top.
  • The Serinity Square shaped crystal (2400) is a type of crystal that features a four-sided square shape with a flat top and simple bevelled edges.
  • Serinity Chessboard Square crystals (2493) have a square shape and a unique, chequered pattern that resembles a chessboard. The surface of the crystal is cut with small square facets arranged in a grid pattern.

Trapezium

There are two styles of trapeze shaped crystals in the Serinity range:

  • The Serinity Trapeze shaped crystals (2772) are a distinctive shape that showcases a trapezoidal silhouette with angles similar to a pyramid that has had the top cut off.
  • The other style is the Serinity Wing shaped crystals (2770) which have a rectangular base that gradually narrows towards the top, resembling the shape of a wing on an aeroplane.

Triangle

There are several variations of the triangle shape available in the Serinity range:

  • Serinity Triangle shaped crystals (2711) are characterized by their geometric shape, which features three equal sides that come together to form a perfect triangle.
  • The Serinity Connector Rhinestones (2715) have a triangular shape featuring two straight edges that meet at a curved edge.
  • The Serinity Rivoli Triangle (2716) merges the traditional round Rivoli style with a triangular silhouette featuring vertical facets that meet in the centre.
  • The Serinity Triangle Isosceles shaped crystals (2738) are precision-cut to a distinctive design, with one corner featuring a straight line instead of a rounded point.
  • The Serinity Triangle Right Angle shaped crystals (2740) are characterized by their symmetrical triangular shape with bevelled edges that rise towards the centre to form a flat top.
  • Serinity Triangle Scalene shaped crystals (2739) are elongated and asymmetrical giving a sense of movement or perspective.
  • Serinity Trilliant shaped crystals (2472) feature a unique shield like shape with rounded edges and a flat top.
