Flowers are a reliable theme for popular jewellery making projects. As we look forward to the warmer months, taking inspiration from the emerging snowdrops in our craft is a sure way to add a spring to anyone’s step. The snowdrop is often one of the first flowers seen poking out of the snow in springtime and is easily recognisable with its drooping white petals and dark green stem. Fun fact, in the original German fairy tale ‘Snowdrop’ was an alternative name given to the character Snow White.
Follow the easy step by step jewellery making instructions below, to create your very own set of snow drop earrings. Once you are familiar with the basic ideas illustrated in this guide, we encourage you to explore other colour and bead combinations and we hope you enjoy the art of creating your own handmade jewellery.

Step 1
Thread the crystals and charms onto the headpin starting with a 5500 9mm Shimmer 2X Pear Bead, then a 4.5mm Rondelle and lastly a 5000 5mm Round Emerald Bead. Once assembled they should resemble flower head of a snowdrop.
Step 2
Use Chain Nose Pliers to bend the head pin at a 90-degree angle just above the beads, to secure them in place. Then use Round Nose Pliers to bend the headpin back on itself into a small loop and cut off the rest of the wire with Side Cutters. This completes the snowdrop pendant and at this point it could be attached to earrings or onto a chain to become a necklace.
Step 3
Using a combination of the round nose and chain nose pliers, gently twist open the loop at the bottom of the Fishhook Ear wire, then thread on the snow drop pendant. Be sure to always use a twisting motion when opening loops and not a pulling motion as that will warp and weaken the metal.
Step 4
Repeat steps 1 to 3 to create the second snow drop earring and complete the set.
