Halloween Tumbler Rhinestone Embellishment With Serinity Crystals

Are you looking for a fun and eye-catching way to decorate your glass tumbler? Why not try embellishing it with stunning Volcano Serinity Crystals from Bluestreak Crystals? The shade Volcano, is polychromatic, meaning depending on the direction the crystal is placed in or looked at, it will reflect a different shade. In this blog post, we'll show you how to take a plain skull-shaped glass tumbler and turn it into a sparkling multicoloured work of art, and you’ll only have to use one type of crystal!

Instructions

Step 1

Gather your supplies and prepare the heels

Gather your supplies and begin by wiping away any dust on the tumbler with a damp cloth and leaving it to dry.

Step 2

Prepare the glue

On a piece of cardboard prepare some CG500 2 Part Epoxy Resin Glue. Do this by mixing 1:1 Ratio of the hardener and epoxy (A+B). Only mix a small amount of glue as to not waste any. Stir both parts together with a wooden spatula or cotton bud, until the mixture turns slightly cloudy. Pour all of your different sized crystals into individual magic sorting trays to keep them organised and separate. This will make the embellishing process easier.

Step 3

Give yourself a guide for your design

For this embellishment project we are using a scatter embellishment style. You can change the design of this and follow the same steps if you wish but quantities may vary.

Step 4

Apply the glue

Begin by using the utensil you mixed your glue with and spreading the glue using a light layer, on a portion of the glass starting at the top. This portion should not be larger than 10x10cm leaving it for 15 minutes to get tacky. Be careful to not apply too much, otherwise you will risk the glue running in unwanted directions. We also advise doing this stage in small sections when working on three dimensional objects, such as the front, sides and back of the glass, to minimise the risk of accidentally touching the glue while it’s still wet or risk the glue running.

Step 5

Place the crystals

Use the Wax Picker Tool to gently place the SS16 Volcano Serinity Crystals onto the glue. Try to embellish the top of the glass first in the section where you have applied your glue and apply a row of SS16 along the very top and at the very bottom too, to ensure a neat pattern. Keep the crystals close together with as few gaps as possible for the best effect. To do this combine the sizes available for as much coverage as possible.

STEP 6

Let the glue dry and work with gravity

Once you have covered a small portion, you’re able to hold the cup sideways and apply the crystals resting against the semi dried ones, meaning you will no longer have to wait for so long for the glue to become fully tacky as gravity will stop the crystals from sliding down the cup due to resting on the already dried ones. Work all around the cup, applying small portions of glue and using the scatter method to jig- saw the crystal sizes together for total coverage.

STEP 7

Let the glue dry

Tidy up the edges with Isopropyl alcohol if needed and let it dry overnight, once the glue is safely dry you can turn the tumbler to see if you have missed any gaps. Allow up to 48 hours of total cure time before getting it into contact with liquids.

Congratulations you have completed the project !

Take your time and work slowly to ensure a clean and professional-looking finish. You can add as many or as few rhinestones as you like, depending on your personal style. Once the tumbler is fully embellished, allow it to dry completely before using it. Now you have a stunning and unique tumbler that is sure to catch everyone's eye. Get creative and have fun embellishing your tumbler with these gorgeous crystals. This tumbler makes for a perfect sparkly drinking cup and doubles for Halloween décor!
