How To Decorate Easter Eggs With Swarovski Crystals

If you want to add some glitz and glamour to your Easter celebrations, why not decorate some of your Easter eggs with gorgeous Swarovski crystals? Not only does this make for a fun DIY crafting activity for kids, but the final finish will add some sparkle and shine to your Easter display - and you can even reuse them every year!

So, what do you need to create your own Swarovski-inspired easter eggs? Let's take a look.

What are Swarovski crystals?

Swarovski crystals are small crystal stones that are produced using unique manufacturing methods patented by the iconic brand Swarovski. While these crystals are commonly used in jewellery and clothing, Swarovski crystals can also be used to decorate everything from home furnishings to cars - yes really! - so why not jazz up your Easter eggs with some sparkle?

Decorating Easter Eggs With Swarovski Crystals

To get started, you'll need to gather some supplies:

  • Swarovski crystals in the colour of your choice. You’ll be better opting for Swarovski flatback rhinestones crystals (Non Hotfix) for this kind of crafting project.
  • Reusable easter eggs (make sure the colour or pattern of the eggs won't obscure the crystals themselves)
  • Glue
  • Tweezers
  • Jewellery pliers (optional)

Now let's get started!

Choose your colours

Before you begin, start by sectioning off a handful of Swarovski crystals that you'd like to use in your design. You can create a single-colour pattern or get creative with multiple colours - it's really up to you! You should plan your design ahead of time to ensure that the application process goes smoothly, as well as to ensure that you have enough crystals to carry out your chosen design.

Apply glue

Once you've selected your chosen crystals, it's time to apply them to your Easter eggs. Start by applying a very small amount of glue to the underside of the crystal, before gripping it by the edges with your tweezers and placing it on your Easter egg. Hold firmly for a few seconds, before releasing the tweezers. Repeat this with all of your crystals until your design is complete.

Add any extra charms or beads

If you would like to add additional embellishments, such as charms or beads, you can add these either by hand or with the help of jewellery pliers.

Let the glue dry

Once you've finished attaching the crystals, you're going to want to let the glue dry for around 30 minutes. Try not to touch the egg until you're sure that everything is dry - you don't want to dislodge any of your crystals and have to start again.
